Photo Friday Here is this week's entry for Photo Friday. The topic is "overlooked". I had a hard time thinking of what to do this week (hence it took me almost all week to post) but I finally thought of something often "overlooked". As a new gardener, I check my plants on almost a daily basis for new growth, new flowers, new bugs (both good and bad). In the past few weeks on several of my flowering plants I have come across small little tan-colored caterpillars. What is especially peculiar about these guys is that they like to camouflage themselves with tiny bits of the flower. They are extremely hard to see at 1st glance but upon closer inspection you finally see them. I've included two pictures below and if you click on the images you will go to larger resolution versions that give you a better look. Pretty neat, huh? Now if I can only figure out what they are and what they will become...

Overlooked
Can you see him pretending he's part of the flower?
Look near the bottom left edge of the flower.

Theme Thursday Today's theme is "dream". This can be interpreted in so many ways but I thought I would share with you what I dream of in the future... a flat in my favorite city of all time, Barcelona, Spain. Below is a picture taken from Parc Güell, a gorgeous park free to the public that overlooks the city and was designed by my favorite architect, Antoni Gaudí. Barcelona just has so much to offer - beautiful, unique architecture, the Spanish culture which is where my roots are based, great food (I love seafood) and a young, cosmopolitan population. Mix in old Roman ruins beneath the city and amazing Gothic architecture with cobble-stone streets and I am in heaven. Good thing too is that my husband shares my dream with me so it may become a reality when we are old and gray together!

Saturday Snapshots Today's Saturday Snapshots theme is "coffee". Below is a digital picture I grayscaled and solarized in Photoshop. The three elements in the picture, the Cafe Bustelo ground espresso coffee, the percolator espresso maker and the tiny coffee cups I grew up drinking coffee in (the set was my mother's and she let me have them when I got my own place because I was so fond of them growing up) all represent to me what Cuban coffee is about. Cafe Bustelo is a popular brand among Cubans and the percolator is the traditional way of making it - simply place it on the stove top, wait a few minutes and you have a dark, strong, delicious cup of espresso. Pre-mix in the sugar before serving and you have the a cup of "cafe Cubano". Yummy!

Theme Thursday Today's theme is "light" so I decided to post a black and white image I took in Downtown Houston at Wortham Center. This is actually a scanned in version of a hand-developed print I took with my old fully manual Nikon.I will admit to enhancing the contrast just a bit in Photoshop so it would look better on your screen but the print looks nice too. Hope you like it!

Photo Friday Here is this week's entry for Photo Friday. The topic this week is "urban". (FYI, the picture below was not manipulated in Photoshop - the sky and color of the windows combined to make the image such a vibrant blue and the reflections came out exactly as they appeared).
